Stars, Strolls & S'mores Moon Walks

Do you like s’mores?  What about moonlit walks?  How about heading out for an adventure as the sun goes down?  The Norfolk area is full of opportunities to explore the nature of Nebraska!  The Nebraska Game & Parks Commission, Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District, Norfolk Area Visitors Bureau; UNL Extension - Madison County, and City of Norfolk, want to help you discover your area outdoor resources while highlighting the unique opportunities nighttime offers.

Moon Walks are held on Wednesday evenings, close to the official full moon, and begin at 7:30 p.m. Most Moon Walks last from 1-2 hours. We usually walk an average of one-mile round trip. Each Moon Walk starts with a short introduction to the night’s program, then we hike to a designated area where there will be presentations. Presenters are experts in their field and are from our local community. The evening wraps up with smores! This event is FREE to attend (with the exception of locations requiring a permit for entry).

Soil & Water Stewardship Week

What is Stewardship Week?

The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) Stewardship Week is one of the largest national programs dedicated to promoting the conservation of our natural resources.  Celebrated annually since 1955 between the last Sunday in April and the first Sunday in May, this week-long event serves as a powerful reminder of our personal responsibilities to safeguard our precious natural resources.
