Flow meters are a beneficial tool to help manage water use.  As of January 1, 2019, the LENRD requires flow meters to be installed on all active, high-capacity (>50 GPM) wells. High-capacity wells are generally used for either livestock, commercial, industrial or public water supply. Every irrigation well in the District was required to have flow meters installed by January 1, 2018.

The LENRD approves all models of McCrometer Propeller Flow Meters flow meters. Click here to see the McCrometer flyer

All flow meters and any appurtenances (such as straightening vanes) must be installed by a certified technician. Each meter must have a totalizer that measures units of acre-inches and must measure flow rate in units of gallons per minute.
